[BCMG] BCMG Commission, [SI] Sound Investment Commission, [WP] World Premiere, [UK] UK Premiere, [R] Revised for this performance
The narratives of music history are continuously informed by music’s placement, and displacement throughout the world. Four different composers examine our relationship with moving sounds and the role of music in the imaginative reconstructions of place; from the bottom of the ocean in Shiori Usui’s BCMG commission Deep, to the dreamcast of left to right movement in the UK Premiere of Scar. Scar, a Sound Investment co-commission, is the culmination to date of a growing relationship between BCMG and Rebecca Saunders.
The performance of Shiori Usui’s Deep is supported by Resonate, a PRS Foundation initiative in partnership with Association of British Orchestras, BBC Radio 3 and Boltini Trust. Deep was written as part of our Apprentice Composer-in-Residence Scheme run in partnership with Sound and Music.
